speak in accordance with people's level of understanding...

The prophet (PBUH) said one should speak with the people with their level of understanding.(Bukhary).

An effective communication occurs only when we talk to people with their level of understanding, being emphatic and compassionate for their experience. Good communication can  also get us what we want in life. One excellent example can be taken from the famous speech of Jafar Ibn Abi Talib to the king of Abisinia, wherein Jafar had the king interested in learning more about Islam. After hearing the speech from jafar he asked him if he had with him something of what the prophet brought concerning God. Jafar replied yes. Which part of the Quran verse do you think he read from? He read from first portion from Surah Maryam that deals with the story of the Jesus and his mother Mary. But why verse from Surah  Maryam? The king was believed to be a christian, and we as a Muslim, also believe in Jesus. On hearing the true words of Allah he was moved to tears. And he said to the spokesmen sent from the Qurayish to negotiate Negus, to get the newly Muslims back, not to hand over to them. The speech that day, was delivered by the Sahaba Jafar, captured the attention of the king. But the selection of Verse from the Holly Quran again proves that it delivers the message of our heart that we seek. Sahaba Jafar (RA) delivered the right words at the right time that  brought success by the grace of Allah, the true words of God. Shouldn't we seek our situation-appropriate of verse from the Holly Quran?
